Snow Bunting can be elusive despite being everywhere on the winter beach. It has annoyed me for years that most of my best sightings are when I’m driving up the desolate beach and I spook a whole bunch them off into the distance.
I finally figured it out. All I had to do was find out precisely when I would next be driving up the beach, then walk out an hour ahead of that, get into position, and then wait for myself to spook them. Voila. Problem solved. Dominant species confirmed.
