While LBI’s most beloved Oystercatcher T2 breaks our hearts year after year when he fails to produce any chicks at Barnegat Light State Park, his nemesis LH keeps quietly pumping them out in the marsh right across the street from T2’s turf. LH has just arrived, safely, and can be found sprucing up his tiny marsh island out behind Kubels and frequently hanging around the Barnegat Light jetty waiting for T2 to show up so he can pick fights with him.
T2 can’t be far behind. Both AMOYs spend the winter in the same part of Florida, probably so they can hurl insults at each other year round. Some of you might remember T2’s triumphant return last Spring which, thanks to lucky & timely sightings in both Florida and LBI, showed us just how insanely fast these locals book it back to the beach when they are ready to get their Summer on.
Can T2 be far behind? Whatever the case, Godspeed T2! And welcome home LH. Holy Smokes! I love the spring!
