At just a few hours old, Tace-ters four itty-bitties were scooped up by Plover Heroes Michelle & Emily to get their itty-bitty bands and become part of an elite group of PIPL who will become Ambassadors for their species, just like their father Tufters and mother Tacey.

While the itty-bitties' legs will continue to grow, they are about as wide at birth as they are going to get, making it a perfect time for banding.
While the itty-bitties’ legs will continue to grow, they are about as wide at birth as they are going to get, making it a perfect time for banding. Plus, these babies are so overwhelmed by the miracle of life that just murderballed them as they popped out of their eggs and discovered they live at the Beach that the banding seems like a non-event. And so they just kick back and enjoy the warmth of a nice Finger Snuggle, and soak in the magic of life on Earth in a Post Wild Era, and enjoy their ride in The Million Dollar Bag.
They only have a few hours after the hatch, before the chicks go totally Rougue, to scoop them up easily and safely from the nest bowl.

"oooo... ahhhhhh!!!111!"
“oooo… ahhhhhh!!!111!”
Tace-ters four itty bitties, Beth, Meg, Joe, & 'Lil Amy each got their own color combo of the classic Piping Plover ring bands. They did not get the fancy flag bands that Tufters & Tacey received. These simple rings are enough for researchers to conduct their study about chick behavior and mortality in New Jersey this Summer.

And the biggest, heaviest of the babies, Big Bad Beth, got a special radio telemetry antenna just like her dad Tufters.
"It ticklez!!!11!!!"

While it sure look adorbz to Finger Snuggle what just might be the cutest animal on the planet, it requires a very special touch to handle something so precious.
While it sure looks ultra-adorbz to Finger Snuggle what just might be the cutest animal on the planet, and you might be totally jelly of Michelle & Emily, it requires a very special touch to handle something so precious. It was a thrill, and a confusing whirlwind, to watch these two execute such a difficult task so quickly, with so much focus on the safety and comfort of the Tace-ter’s family.
And in a flash, the operation was a done deal and a huge success, and the itty-bitties were put back into their nest bowl, safe and sound.
