The Surf City Beach Replenishment: Long Beach Island, Summer 2013

"Sure sweetie, you can swim. Just in addition to watching for rip tides & sharks, watch out for that huge rust pipe and don't get bulldozed."
“Sure sweetie, you can swim. Just in addition to watching for rip tides & sharks, watch out for that huge rusty pipe and don’t get bulldozed.”

If you come to the beach to get “replenished” then Surf City is the place for you. Want to add getting bulldozed to the list of risks you face at the beach? We’ve got you covered. Outside of the noise, the stench (yes, the stench) and the enormous machines, it is pretty much just an average day at the beach.

Not LBI as you remember it necessarily.

It is an amazing scene to watch the furiously paced replenishment taking place right next to crowded beaches.  You can certainly get up close and personal with the project. The project is flying down the beach northward, closing small sections at a time. It is certainly worth a field trip, just to get a peek.
