We’re getting back to something, that’s for sure. It appears the weather is attempting to Restore The Shore (TM). Yes, the water is frigid. Yes, the South wind is relentless. Yes, the drift is destroying the surf. Yes, the haze makes capturing photos of Osprey bits difficult… but the slight change of some dryer air and some sunshine made today feel a little more like summer than it’s felt in some time. Enough so that tonight we feel that evening exhaustion one feels after a Summer day well spent.
The Cold Water Catastrophe continues unabated: Long Beach Island Water temps were 61 at best today. I refer you to the post on shorties and wetsuits further down the page. If you or your family have never been “wetsuit people” this may be the time to become such people. I continue to promise that the modest investment in a spring suit will continue to be a Vacation Saver (TM) for the foreseeable future. But it certainly was fun to watch all the new, Saturday arrivals take their first dip today. That initial “I’ve been waiting for this all year!” was enough to get them to take the plunge, but that might have been their last dip this week.
