It would appear this week was scientifically engineered to ease the pain for all of those who left the Island to resume their normal lives. Masses of unstable weather surround us. Hot, gray, humid, and windy, with the threat of storms always in the near distance. If you’ve gone, let me assure you: you’re not missin’ much.
The big story is “The Waves”. A combination of forces are creating out-of-this-world swell forecasts that are currently peaking on Monday in the 9 foot range. Cooperative winds and good sandbars make this a great time for surfing… but not for the faint hearted. The ocean is violent and somewhat cruel right now with intense rips and currents. Add to that an empty beach and you have a situation that demands caution, so watch yourself if you plan to hit these swells.
Strong rains in the last few days combined with the choppy seas and huge swells have turned the water into a dark, foamy mess with little chance of clearing up in the near future.
