Things are looking good and the West Wind, plus a little North last light, cleaned the nearshore waters up nicely. But we need a few tweaks. The flies are “a problem” to “quite the problem”. LBI’s dragonflies have done an outstanding job of protecting us from getting mauled over the past few seasons, but there is not-a-one to be found. I guess they thought they had August off. Hopefully this minor inconvenience will be solved by both speed and direction. If the wind, now blowing solidly from the North, can lose its Western component then we’re safe. If the wind can maintain speeds over 10 mph, we’re also good (wind-fly reading). Thankfully, mixed winds are in the forecast. Just a touch of East will finish the job of clearing the flies. Keep your eye on the wind and prepare some protective coverings before heading to the beach in the AM.
