And now is the part of the show where I apologize for getting you all to pray to your Gods for West Wind. I intentionally left out the part about the flies, hoping for a long shot fly-less West Wind day like some of those we had in July. But today was a classic Westy fly massacre for anyone on the beach. I must have had 200 on me while shooting the Dolphin in the evening. It was brutal.
But who cares about all that. The West has done it’s job and the surf cleaned up nicely. We had spectacularly fun offshore waves, nice dry air, and cleaner water than we’ve had in a week. Snapper, Dolphin, Osprey, and Pelican were out in force today. Particularly the Dolphin: there were hundreds of them passing by from morning until sundown.
The murkier water still remains inside the break, but is clearing and just past the break was the clean blue water we’ve been waiting for. A nice mix of winds should flush out the inside and hopefully shore up the sandbar.
